FAQs

How do I deposit data in SANDY?

If you are a current Nebraska University affiliate, click “login” in the upper right corner of the front page in SANDY, enter your credentials and authenticate. Then, click “submit” in the center top of the page to begin the deposit process.

You will need to provide an ORCID to deposit data. If you do not yet have this free academic identifier, please visit: https://orcid.org/.

Why do I need an ORCID?

ORCID is a unique persistent identifier for managing scholarly identities and claiming credit for research and other contributions. We require depositors to use ORCID to help make data in SANDY FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) and to meet recommended characteristics of data repositories for federally funded research. ORCID is free. Please contact us if you need assistance in setting up your ORCID.

Can I get a DOI?

Yes. Once the data have been curated and published, a DOI will be provided.

Can I share sensitive data or data that requires access controls?

At this time, we cannot accept sensitive or controlled access data into SANDY. We can advise on strategies for managing that data, so please contact us.

Licensing your data

All data deposited in SANDY must include a license so that users know how they may reuse your data. We include commonly used licenses in a dropdown list. If there is another license you would like to use, please contact us and we will work with you to share your data with the license of your choice.
